Enjoy It While It Lasts
The one thing humans never seem to have enough of is time. Time is all the time, it never ends until the very second you pass away from the world. As you grow up time passes by faster just like school years seem to go by quicker. I feel like I was in my freshman year of high school yesterday and now I am a sophomore. Soon, I’ll be off to college and wondering where did my high school life go.
One period of time I seem to never be able to get enough of is the summer time. I love the summertime because it is my chance to go to Iran and visit all of my family members. Last summer I went to Iran. What made this summer special was that my older brother, Amirhossein, finally got the chance to come with us to Iran. The plane rides to get there were tiring because we stayed in airplanes for about twenty hours. However, the airline staff made sure the passengers were comfortable. They made it easy for us to rest and luckily there weren’t any crying babies. A lot of the ride to Iran we spent sleeping in airports and airplanes until finally we have reached our destination, the wonderful city of Isfahan. The city seemed to shine as Iranian workers would help us with our bags and welcome us to Isfahan. Finally, my family and I made it to my grandmother’s house, where smiling faces and kisses welcomed us home.
During the Iran trip, my uncle took us to Imam Square, Maidan-e Nagsha Jahan, where the lights would shine in the night and Iranian merchants would advertise their product all in the mosque where Shah Abbas and Iranians conversed. My little cousins ran around and played while the rest of us at burgers and told each other jokes. We all sat by the edge of the water and just watched the fast flow of the water under the Khaju bridge. Then later we spent the rest of the night strolling up and down the Khaju bridge while watching and listening the locals perform the traditional Iranian songs they have practiced. My whole family was awestruck by how the locals may not even know each other but can still sing in perfect harmony.
Later during the trip, my family also decided to take a trip to Mashad, Iran. The hotel we had booked was magnificent. The workers were so courteous and the hotel was so glamorous with a fountain and a huge chandelier. We finally went into our rooms and got to enjoy the full embrace of the bed. After being able to rest in the hotel for a while, we went sightseeing. While we were sightseeing, my brother spotted some photographers with traditional Iranian clothes that could be worn to have photos taken in them. I twirled in the bright red clothing designed to make me look like a traditional persian princess, while my two brothers dressed up to look like the shah. We posed while the lady took our photo. The three of us felt very excited to be wearing such beautiful clothing.
Sadly, the trip had to come to an end. The trip that seemed like it wouldn’t end for quite some time, ended in the blink of an eye. The happy memories will stay with me while I anticipate the next great adventure to the country of Iran. Many people unknowingly take for granted the time they are offered to spend time with people and activities they love to do. Make sure to really enjoy those times with family and friends because later on you may regret it. Time is the one thing we go through every single day but there never seems to be enough of it for anything. The one thing humans lack is time and the one thing many of us wish we had more of.
